FOV

Not Sure how many of you are aware of this.
I read about it in Ea's official forums.

Unfortunately, changing your FOV is not a straightforwar d option setting in the game. To change you FOV you will have to navigate to the BFBC2 folder under your My Documents folder and edit the "Settings.ini" file. You should see a default setting for the FOV, which would read "FOV = 55". Make sure the game isn't running when you change this setting.

I changed mine to 65 which seems like more of a natural PC FOV, but you're free to change it to *almost* whatever you like (there is a limit to prevent cheating in Multiplayer).

I am running 1920x1200 and I set mine to 85

I'm kind of satisfied with default view.
I guess I'll play with it see how it really changes.

i was wondering about this setting the other night when i realised my 4x optical took up such an odd amount of my screen space.  do you happen to know what the standar FOV is for most pc fps's and if i change it that much higher will that put a lot more strain on my FPS in game?

hold on lego. setting your FoV to 85 for this game seems like it's retardidly too high.  like makes it look no right.  just did some reading and i beleive it's because this game uses a vertical FOV which is uncommon compared to horizontal FoV.  If your used to a 90 FOV in most pc games with a horizontal FoV i thik you need to be between 59-65 FOV in this.  i'm gonna go play with it a little bit more and post back after.

Edit: found this and forgot to post it.  some genius did the math on it and made a calculator.

http://rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php

Note: what most people are customed to playing with is between a Horizontal 90-100 FoV.  so put that in the calculator and the number it gives you is what you need to actually make it in the file to get that horizontal FoV.

what is FOV?  I have to sound like a nub but I can't figure it out.

FOV = field of view

It's measured in degrees, so 90 is 90 degrees, and that means you get 45 degrees to the left of center, and 45 degrees to the right of center on your screen at all times.  (EDIT: Apparently in BC2 it measures up and down from center, not left and right.   :P)

Thanks Lego, I didn't know about this, and I remember hearing you could adjust it, but I couldn't find the setting, and I didn't really follow up on it.

I usually play on 90, but that's because that's the max setting on TF2, and now I'm kinda used to it.  We'll see if it looks funny in BC2...
