I highly doubt the Modern Warfare franchise is anywhere to close to being over. Just because some studio heads were fired or even if the next MW game is developed by a different studio the Modern Warfare IP is a gold mine. After Activation acquired the Guitar Hero license from Red Octane, they milked the series for all that it was worth. I'm sure they will handle the Call of Duty series in much the same way continuing to release a game every year until people stop buying them.
