TF2 - Hooray Team Lethal!

Hello Team Lethal and regulars,

I go by JK47, but those of you who know me will probably recognize me as j_k_47 from the TF2 server.

I wanted to say thanks to team lethal for being such a welcoming and fun server to play on. I really enjoy that the server uses hlstats, which I've come to watch religiously inbetween spawns, but really what has made the server for me is seeing quite a few regulars, of which so many are fun to play with and a good time to be around.  So many of the team lethal members have been kind and patient with me as I've re-tooled my skillset from TFC and my assorted rts games into being a functional TF2 player. I wanted to specifically thank diggxdugg, shewolf, and walker for the help they've been.

Plus, its just fun to listen to walker yell at people - "(Fill in the blank), You're muted, STOP TRYING TO TALK!" 

While I don't know that I'm ready to commit to the ventrillo time that it looks like so many of you participate in, and I know that I'm going to be busy this Fall with work, taking a class, and of course making time for my wife (who doesn't play, unfortunately  ) and RL friends (of whom only a few play), and, I know the Spring is always hell because I work for an accounting firm (yay taxes!), I am interested in contributing to this community, and being a valuable part of it. Run-on sentences for the win.

I was curious - how much does it cost to keep the server up for one month? I noticed that you have a way to donate via paypal. Just trying to see what ways I could be helpful, other than by trying to become a great player who isn't an asshat online

Hey! Thanks for all the kinds words, we're really glad to hear input from our regulars - and to hear that we're at least doing the right thing to satisfy them

NP about the real-life stuff, it happens to all of us, but we hope you'll still be able to play in our server when you can. We try our best to provide a fun playing environment, and it only gets better when people like you support us and continue to play

I am not gonna give you a run down on monthly pay out cause we have a TF2 server, a CS:S server, a ventrilo server, a web server(which includes fastdownloads), hlstatsx.
Payment for all of these come from the same pot it is not divided up in to departments, and as a nonmember I am not sure how you would feel about that.

As for vent, give it a try. You don't have to make a time commitment, we have people who join everytime they play, we have people who rarely join, we have people who join when the baby isn't sleeping. You are not commited to join everytime you play. Some people find it fun, some find it loud and distracting.

We have some very skilled people here who are more than willing to help you and it is 10x easier to do that in vent than in game.

Keep this in mind, "We are friends who play games together" not the other way around

Hi there JK! Glad to hear you enjoy our fragging brothel. I think I remember seeing you once or twice, but don't recall exactly... I used to play quite a bit but as of the last month, rarely get to treat myself to some TF2. Things should improve in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully catch you in a game soon

Walker - you're right. My wife and I moved in February, and in the process, I haven't been able to find my microphone, or my surround-sound Logitech speakers. So, I've been sitting in the computer room typing away and listening in-game with an old pair of half-functional headphones my wife scrounged up. 

One of these days I'm going to find my speaker set, but I have a feeling that my microphone is gone for good. I need to go out and buy one - any suggestions, everyone? I'm looking for cheap and effective, just like playing pyro.

rather than doing speakers/mic you should consider buying a decent headset for gaming - most of us, if not all, use one:

which one you choose all depends on your budget and the sound quality you want...stick with a name brand.

Welcome to the forum JK!

Rattle and I use a logitech USB headset - it's pretty good and reliable. My only complaint is there is a mute button on the mdel we have - that I always hit at least once a map :/ It was under $40, so I think that's pretty cheap!

So I think sometime over the labor day weekend I'll run out to Best Buy and pick up a new headset. Wee, consuming! 

Also, I knew that if I pointed out specific people to thank, inevitably I would forget someone who has been a lot of fun and helpful while I've been on. Rattlehead, you're who I'm talking about!
